What Does an AHA Serum Actually Do? Your Guide to Smoother, Clearer Skin

If you've ever stared at your nose in the mirror wondering why nothing clears those blackheads, or run your hand down your legs and felt every little bump — you're not alone. These are some of the most common skin concerns in South Africa, and they share one root cause: a build-up of dead skin cells and trapped oil that most cleansers simply can't shift.

That's exactly what the Halo House™ All-In-One AHA Serum is designed to fix.

What Is an AHA Serum?

AHA stands for Alpha Hydroxy Acid — a family of gentle chemical exfoliants that dissolve the bonds holding dead skin cells to the surface. Unlike physical scrubs that scratch and tear, AHAs work invisibly, lifting away dull buildup and revealing the fresher skin underneath.

The Halo House™ formula combines 8% AHA (surface smoothing) with 2% BHA (salicylic acid, which gets inside the pore to break down blackheads and congestion). Together, they cover what neither acid could do alone.

What Skin Problems Does It Solve?

  • Blackheads & clogged pores — dissolves the trapped oil inside pores so blackheads, whiteheads and back breakouts have less to feed on
  • Rough, bumpy texture — lifts dry surface buildup and leaves skin feeling smooth and even
  • Strawberry legs — loosens the little keratin plugs behind rough bumps on arms, thighs and legs
  • Post-breakout dark marks — encourages fresher skin to the surface, helping dull spots look lighter over time

Face and Body — One Bottle

Most chemical exfoliants are formulated for your face only. The Halo House™ AHA Serum is designed for both — so one bottle replaces two products and works wherever you need it most.

On your face: dull skin, blackheads, nose congestion, uneven texture, and dark marks left by breakouts.
On your body: rough bumps on arms and thighs, back and chest breakouts, dry elbows and knees, and ingrown hairs after shaving.

How To Use It

  1. Apply a thin layer to completely dry skin (water activates the acid and can cause stinging)
  2. Leave on for 10 minutes — start at 3–5 minutes if you're new to acids
  3. Rinse with lukewarm water
  4. Follow with your moisturiser
  5. Wear SPF 30+ the next morning — non-negotiable when using acids

Use 1–2 nights a week. It's a reset, not a daily step — so one bottle lasts.
